Press Coverage

MEDPOINT express got indirectly mentioned today in both the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg. I think that means I'm famous!

George W.

President Bush came to the little town of South Bend today. In spite of Indiana being one of the first states decided in the last presidential election, a few protestors showed up.
Bush came to help Senator Chris Chocola raise funds for his next campaign. Lunch was $500 a plate, and even more for a picture. Unfortunately, you had to have a special invitation to attend, so i didn't get a chance...
I did, however, get delayed by the motorcade - they shut off the entire route when he drives anywhere. Later in the day, I got to see him drive by the hospital. Big news in South Bend!.

weight loss

While it wasn't necessarily a New Year's resolution, I joined the Memorial Health and Lifestyle Center in January to try and lose some of the extra poundage I gained during grad school. To furher motivate me, I made a bet with Mike about how much I could shed in the first month, and I won! 8 pounds....
Now that the first month and bet are over, the loss has slowed. But we're trying to register for a marathon in June, and if an impending 26 mile run won't motivate me, maybe I should give up and be happy and fat!

Wal-Mart

A couple weeks ago we went down to Wal-Mart headquarters. It's amazing that the world's largest company operates out of a building that looks like a warehouse. The inside of their conference room further attests to the frugality of their entire culter.

auto show

I'm going to just pick up like it hasn't been months since i've written...
Mike and I met up with a Notre Dame friend at the Chicago Auto Show yesterday. Her brother came all the way from Scotland just to see the auto show! While Mike and I stayed a healthy 3.5 hours, we left Lorna and Ron after they had enjoyed 6, and we're not completely sure they ever left! Did you know that by next year the Chicago Auto Show will be bigger than the Detroit, New York, and Los Angeles auto shows combined?!
I found the cutest car ever. The Volkswagen Eos, and I love the powder blue color! It's the first hard-top convertible with a sun roof, and claims to be a full 4-passenger car. It won't be available until this summer, so don't look for it on the road yet. If I were truly a car person, I would be in love....
